The medical practice in Skukuza is a historic one, providing medical care for South Africans visiting the Kruger Park since the 1960’s. The practice is currently run by Dr Gary Peiser and Dr Ninette Müller, both permanently based in Skukuza.
The practice provides an emergency service for any event needing medical attention in the Kruger National Park 24 hours a day. If the emergency is in an isolated area, the doctors will coordinate the emergency plan. They also provide a telephonic consultation service for guests within the park. This has proven itself to be extremely useful as Skukuza is the only camp in the entire Kruger park with resident doctors and you cannot leave the rest camps at night without authorisation. The ability to speak to a doctor might calm your nerves or alert you to a serious medical emergency when you are in the bush and far away from a hospital.
Stangler Fig and Leadwood
This photo was taken in the lush Crocodile Bridge area. In the picture, you can see how the Strangler Fig on the left is using the leadwood for support.
